MQ Client Connection not closing

From WAS (WebSphere) 220.127.116.11 I connect to remote MQ server for JMS application.
Connection Timeout : 0 sec
Max Connections : 35
Min Connections : 30
Reap Time : 180 sec
Unused Timeout : 1800 sec
Aged Timeout : 0
Purge Policy : FailingConnection Only
Code is like:
queueConn = qConnFactory.createQueueConnection();
queueSession = queueConn.createQueueSession(false,
queueSender = queueSession.createSender(sendQueue);
I do not see any exception related to unable to close queueconnection, or queuesession in error log. In other words, Java program can successfully close connections in finally.
However, connections stay open. Even though min connections specified is 30, max is 35, as many as 75 or more connections stay open overnight.
Yes, all the connections get consumed during the load

Run the server in debugging mode and watch the connections. Verify that the 'close' line is being reached.
