Hello,

This is not a real technical questions but more information gathering in order to decide which path to go.
Our system is based on J2EE 1.2 and deployed on WAS 5.x.
We are busy with major refactoring activities and the J2EE level is something we still not sure about.

We prefer to target J2EE 1.4 (WAS 6.x) ,however we aren't sure when WAS 5.x will be no longer supported by IBM (which is important fact for our customers).
Somehow it is difficult to get this answer from IBM site / roadmaps etc...

Does anyone know until WAS 5.x will be supported, what about WAS 7 ?

Thanks in advance for your help
/Shraga.

This isn't a great indication, but they are retiring the "certification exams" for WAS 5 at the end of the year. That puts the writing on the wall.

Also, the last major release for IBM is the Portal, and that just went out on version 6 a few months ago. They'll be anxious to get WebSphere 7 on the market soon, to give their sales reps something to sell.

WAS 5 - September. After that, you can pay for additional support.

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
