Replacing "|'(pipe) from data to ',' in Oracle Reports 9i.

In my one of the column of data there are so many field separated by '|' (pipe)which I want to replace by','(comma) as this pipe is not good to display in my reports.
So can I replace it with ','? If so how can I achieve it?
If anybody knows it please let me know....
