I'm a Java programmer (Sun certified) and I am now trying to learn Oracle PL/SQL and to take the Oracle certification exam. I am using a textbook "Oracle8 PL/SQL programming" by Scott Urman, and published by Osborne McGraw Hill which I bought about 2-3 years ago. I am currently on chapter 4. I hear a lot about Oracle 9i which I gather is the latest Oracle version. Since this book is all I have, I've been using it to study Oracle PL/SQL. But someone told me some days ago that Oracle 8 is different from Oracle 8i and that Oracle 8 predates Oracle 8i. Is this true? Igf it is, would you advice that I stop using it and get something more in line with the times?

of course, the latest book is better for exam purpose, maybe u could download the PL/SQL programming guide from oracle. the difference between old one & new, maybe some OO feature, which may not be used mostly in practice.
Femi, You could also check out Ebay and search for the Oracle books that they give out in their training classes. It might be a little more than you think, but their books are realy good. Mark
