Why does Oracle AS create a ear file when a war file is deployed? I havent seen this happen in Weblogic?

WSAD also need to do this. It used an EAR file to hold the WAR file.

Maybe IBM and Oracle feels that it is a J2EE application, and thus, it makes use of EAR file.

I guess it's just the way they decided to implement things in their application server. In the end, it's not that much different from, say, Jakarta Tomcat expanding deployed WAR files into exploded directories, is it?

YES, but I just wonder, in fact, a WAR file is already enough, but still, we need an EAR file deployment.
