I would like to restore an Oracle database from a tablespace datafile, which is called temp.dbf. Someone has just given me the tablespace datafile, and from what I know about tablespaces the datafile contains all the schemas, logs, etc for that tablespace.
Can I restore this tablespace datafile by creating a new tablespace, and plugging in the new file instead of creating a new tablespace file? I know what path on the server the tablespace datafiles are stored, so is it merely a case of putting the tablespace datafile in that path?
I have a bit of experience with Oracle, but have never done anything with regards to backups and recovery of databases.
Thanks in advance.
