I am a noob to a lot of things here and would very appreciate some help.
I have a Java based application running on WebSphere 3.5, IBM HTTP Server 1.3.12.5, on Red Hat Linux 7.2.
HTTP is installed in /opt/IBMHTTPServer/
WebSphere is installed in /opt/IBMWebAS/
My app's directory structure is complex, but the root is /webroot/housing/
When I open a browser on the server, using a URL of http://localhost/housing/Entry?Comp=100 my application works fine.
When I open a browser on the server, using a URL of http://192.168.0.78/housing/Entry?Comp=100 my application does not work. Note that 192.168.0.78 is the IP of the server. The error which I receive in the browser is: Not Found The requested URL /housing/Entry was not found on this server. The msg in /opt/IBMHTTPServer/logs/error_logs is: File does not exist: /opt/IBMHTTPServer/htdocs/en_US/housing/Entry
When I open a browser on another workstation, using a URL of http://192.168.0.78 I receive the standard "Welcome to IBM HTTP Server" page.
When I open a browser on another workstation, using a URL of http://192.168.0.78/housing/Entry?Comp=100 my application does not work. The error which I receive in the browser is: The page cannot be found The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please try the following: If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. Open the 192.168.0.78 home page, and then look for links to the information you want.
Click the Back button to try another link.
Click Search to look for information on the Internet. HTTP 404 - File not found
Internet Explorer
The msg in /opt/IBMHTTPServer/logs/error_logs is: File does not exist: /opt/IBMHTTPServer/htdocs/en_US/housing/Entry

Is this an HTTP config problem? How can I fix this. Thanks in advance for the noob, explicit spoon feed.
Thanks, Oscar

What happens when you type in (on the server) http://192.168.0.78/

or..
http://192.168.0.78:80/
http://192.168.0.78:the_port_that_websphere_uses

Definately smells like a config problem between your HTTP server and Websphere.

From a browser on the server, when I use a URL of:
http://192.168.0.78 I get the standard "Welcome to the IBM HTTP Server..." page.
http://192.168.0.78:80 I also get the standard "Welcome to the IBM HTTP Server..." page.
I don't know what other port I would try or even where to look to see if the WebServer is listening on any other port.
Thanks, Oscar

The problem is resolved:
From the WebSphere Admin Console, default_host advanced tab, I inserted 192.168.0.78 as an alias.
Thanks, Oscar
