JRun is a fully compliant
J2EE
application server while
Tomcat
is just a JSP/Servlet container.
It's obvious which one is better but maybe Tomcat will better suit your needs(i.e. practice with JSPs and
Servlets
).

I'd modify the 'just' to read "fully compliant J2EE servlet container"
Saying that tomcat is 'just' a servlet runner is like saying Unix is 'just' an operating system.
Don't get me started about those stupid
light bulbs
.
