I was curious if someone had noticed any issues regarding Windows XP and jakarta-tomcat4.0.3?
I have no troubles running jakarta-tomcat-3.0.2 on my Windows XP. However, the 4.0.3 version is not working correctly.
I have two main issues:
after I enter startup.bat - I get this message in the console window ==>
Starting service Tomcat-StandALone
Apache Tomcat/4.0.3
Starting service Tomcat-Apache
Apache Tomcat/4.0.3
Is this correct? (It is much much different than tomcat3.0.2 - so I thought I should check.)
Are all the links to tomcat's internal documentation correct? When you open http://localhost:8080 go you get the "Congratulations you have successfully set up tomcat 4.0.3 page"?
P.S. I am using JDK1.3.1 for all versions of tomcat.

One issue I've noticed with Tomcat 4.x and XP is that the common/lib directory seems to be 'broken'. I have a working application that uses an Oracle db. I copied my web application folder from my 2000 box to the XP box. Tried to run it and got a SQLException.. because of course there was no driver!

Copied the classes12.jar into common/lib (where it is on my 2000 box) and no amount of pleading would get it to work. I finally put it into the WEB-INF/lib directory of my webapp and got it working.

1. Yup, it's short and sweet.
2. No problem with my docs.
I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
