Can I do a URL-mapping for something besides a Servlet?

Hi,
I want to make a URL-mapping in the web.xml file for a directory, not a servlet. Is that possible? If so, can someone give me an example?
I'm trying to set it up so that my Servlet doesn't have to use an absolute pathname when uploading files, so the application can be more portable.
Thanks in advance for any help,
g.
