Tomcat 4.0 client certificate

it seem like starting from version 4.0, tomcat are able to support client certificate. but, how can we actually use it?... except direction on setting 'ClientAuth=True' in server.xml, which can be found on tomcat documentation, there's no other details explainantion about it. can anyone help me, about how to use client certificate, especially for client authentication on tomcat, from scratch?.....
