Hi there,
Am new to using tombcat and seemingly I just cannot seem to get deploying a new application into the server right.
Just as a test copied the whole directory structure of the examples application of tomcat, renamed it to test and added a new context element in the servlet.xml file. restarted the server and prayed that it worked. my prayers were not answered
Well for starts is this the right way to do it? Is is possible to deploy a new application into tomcat without creating a .WAR file.
Thanks
Jack

Yes it is possible to deploy an app without the WAR file.

What is the error you are getting, and what does the context you created look like ? And where in server.xml is it?

Did you define the servlet URLs in the WEB-INF/web.xml file?
