Ok I am not New to Tomact.. But ever since I restored my machine.. I lost all the previous settings of my autoexec.bat file. But from many post and other tomcat related docs I have set the classpath,java_home and catalina home variables on my win 98 m/c. But I am getting "access denied" error?? error: Using CATALINA_BASE: C:\tomcat Using CATALINA_HOME: C:\tomcat Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: c:\tomcat \temp Using JAVA_HOME: C:\jdk1.3.1 Access is denied.
does any one have any idea when one gets this error and what is the cause?? thanks, Trupti

here I am with the answer..:-) After doing lot of search, reading the FAQs I couldn't find the solution..so tried some things on my own.. Whenver I used to start the tomcat it used to display : Using CATALINA_BASE: C:\tomcat Using CATALINA_HOME: C:\tomcat A)Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: C:\tomcat \temp Using JAVA_HOME: C:\jdk1.3.1 like this. In the FAQ it's given that we have to set only JAVA_HOME,CATALINA_HOME and the CLASSPATH variables. The tomcat sets the CATALINA_BASE and CATALINA_TMPDIR variables automatically if they are not set. but as you all can see there is lot of space between c:\tomcat and \temp on line marked as A). So I manually set that variable and it worked. I still don't understand why those spaces were added? and why the access denied error..?? Does any one knows the real expalaination for above?? thanks, Trupti [ January 21, 2003: Message edited by: trupti nigam ]
