Hi All, I am currently working on grid technologies and am planning to build a web conatiner for grid. To start with, i want to understand the webconatiner functions and planning to start with open source like tomcat. Can anyone please direct me a good way to start understanding tomcat.. what is the functional differnece between tomcat version 3 and 4 ? thanks, sangeetha
Tomcat 3 is servlet spec 2.2 Tomcat 4 is servlet spec 2.3 Tomcat 5 will be servlet spec 2.4
Other than that, look at the Tomcat docs for all the parts that make up Tomcat. Or I found this site the other day that makes a start at getting into Tomcat internals: http://www.brainysoftware.com/
They have 8 chapters for free download. 'How Tomcat works'.
