Clustering Tomcat... Any thoughts?

Hi Guys
I know there's a lot of information on this; But i would dearly appreciate if someone threw light on these issues:
Tomcats can be clustered for load-balancing and apache http server can do it. The documents say so:
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.0-doc/balancer-howto.html
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.0-doc/cluster-howto.html
so far so good:
But in balancer-howto.html:
Apache 2 configuration the autors mention:
First we must create a rewrite map (for mod_rewrite) (balancing.conf):
LB1 tomcat1.foo.com:8080
LB2 tomcat2.foo.com:8080
LB3 tomcat3.foo.com:8888
ALL tomcat1.foo.com:8080|tomcat2.foo.com:8080|tomcat3.foo.com:8888
Where can I find this balancing.conf?
Has anybody tried these things
TIA
Ravi

The first thing ( I think ) to be absolutely clear on is:

are you using Tomcat stand-alone or Apache, connected to Tomcat, through a connector?

That will mostly dictate how you proceed to load-balance and cluster your tomcat install.

Sorry about not backing to you.
Yes I am trying to use apache 2.0 as load balancer.
I have 2 instances of tomcat listening on ports 11009 and ports 12009 repsectively.
I have connected them with apache usinhg mod_jk2
