tomcat4.0 start.bat file

i have initialised the java_home=c:/javasoft/jdk
in the jdk directorty i have by bin folder;
then i have set CATALINA_HOME=c:/javasoft/tomcat/bin
and then executed
>out of environmetn space
out of environment space
//and the initialised param are displayed though the java.exe is popping up
//i am unable to get the right answer
->so can any one help me out how to startup the tomcat4.0

"out of environment space" - I bet you are using Win98. By default, Win98 does not allow enough space for environment variables in the command prompt window, and Tomcat sets LOTS of environment variables. You need to increase the memory - its a control you can reach from the properties dialog - right click on the upper left corner of a MSDOS window. I have forgotten the details.
There was a discussion in this forum not long ago with better instructions, search for Win98.
