Simple Tomcat Config Question

I am deploying a Tomcat-based application on a windows server that already has serveral instances of IIS running bound to several different IPs.

I have been allocated an IP on this box for my application, how do I tell Tomcat to bind to that particular IP?

Do I have to run Apache in parallel for this?

Thanks in advance .

First, are you running Apache in front of Tomcat, or just Tomcat stand-alone ?

If tomcat stand-alone, then check:
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/config/coyote.html

Check for an attribute named 'address'.

If it's apache in front, then in httpd.conf you are able to set the IP on which to listen. I forget at the moment, the exact config setting, but it's definitely in there.

Thank you Mike that attribute is just what I am looking for.

Why do sites run Apache in front of Tomcat? Is this for load balancing reasons or security?

Keith,

The reasons for running Apache in front of Tomcat are many and varied. Some are bad ones. (ie: they once might have been defendable, but not anymore).

Check this recent thread for more:
