Can a website/web application run outside Apache Tomcat 5 directory? if it can how to configure it so that apache tomcat know where the website/web application directory are?

yes it can be done. In the server.xml file do the following

<Context path="/testing" docBase="c:\test" reloadable="true" />

can u alloborate it a bit on how to add the line. where can i find the server.xml file.
