The stuff in the code barn is great! How about some examples involving Swing, event handling, i/o, or other subjects?

Are you offering to write some?

Give me an assignment and I'll do it with a smile on my face.

How about the simplest possible demonstration of a servlet? Or EJB?
Or, sure, how about a Swing app, followed by a swing app that handles an event.

The Swing App would probably be best for me (given that I have no experience with EJB or servlets). Do you really want an app, or do you want a JApplet?

I would rather have an app than and applet. Applets went into the code barn cuz when the code barn was started, applets were all the rage. I would guess that about 85% of Swing stuff is done with applications. Plus, we have enough applets demos.

I have a couple of small sample apps that I could send. How shall we transfer? Does the ranch have an FTP site?

The Ranch has FTP.
I'm a bit swamped, let me see if I can find a moderator to help you out ...

And bear in mind that we like code to follow the guidelines in the "Chicken Coop", or we'll set Marilyn the nitpicker on you

Nick,
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner, but so far I haven't heard of any bartender volunteers to take care of the code barn.
Perhaps this is something you would like to do?

Well, we would can pop you into the moderators only forum so you can participate in all of the site improvement discussions. At that point you could choose to moderate a forum if you wanted to. You would be given some limited ftp access to the site so you can try out your changes. When everything loos sharp, somebody with full ftp access will move your changes to the real code barn.

Done. You now have access to the moderators only forum. There you will find information on an ftp test area and everything else you will need.

Paul, sorry for the confusion, but if you read http://www.javaranch.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=displayprivate&number=28&topic=000430 you will see that I won't be posting as Nick Riviera any more. In the interest of maintaining the professionalism of the Ranch (and since I was recognized when I didn't think I would be) I will be posting again as Bodie Minster, my real self.
I hope that it won't be necessary for me to be destroyed . If you want me to, I will still jump into the Code Barn as myself. Let me know what you think, and sorry for the breach of protocol.

Bodie,
Go to the moderators only forum and pick out a forum to moderate if you want to.
Find the thread about ftp test access and set up a new code barn there. When you think you have everything set up the way you want, we will move the new code barn in to replace the old.
You might want to dig up a picture of yourself. Mapraputa is diligent in getting pictures of everybody for the contact page.
