I am running tomcat at home to learn how to use it. When I deploy a new servlet or jsp version to tomcat, I find i have to shutdown tomcat and restart it to get tomcat to pick up on the new version.

is there a way to get tomcat to auto-detect when a newer version of a jsp or a servlet is deployed?

Hi Bobbie,

For servlet, you can do that by setting the reloadable=true. For more info, please refer to this thread and this thread. For JSP files, simply refresh the web browser.
