tomcat 4.1.3.1 startup problme

Dear All
I had tomcat 3 version.I donwloaded 4.1.3.1 and upgraded the tomcat.
When i start tomcat following exception is thrwon

I have jdk1.3 and OS is Windows 98. Please help..

I'm a little new to Tomcat also, but it looks like some of the messages I've gotten when I hosed my server.xml file in the conf directory. Do you have a backup? You mighttry going to the following site:

http://www.stg.brown.edu/service/xmlvalid/

The site can validate xml files. Just point it at your local file.
