The book is aimed at Tomcat admins or web application deployers. I assumed no previous Tomcat experience for either.
The admins were assumed to have a basic knowledge of the web, typical admin security issues (on the file system), what a web server is, etc. No JSP or Java programming knowledge is assumed. The bits of Java that are needed, for example, the security features, class loaders, the layout of a webapp, are explained from scratch.
The deployers were assumed to know how to package a web application and therefore to be familiar with the relevant specifications.
How much does it deal with integration issues with other components?
There are chapters on integrating with Apache (1.3 and 2.0), IIS and databases.
