I have a project using Tomcat 5.0.28 and Eclipse 3.01. I reference the project web folder directly from Tomcat with reloadable="true".
In Eclipse I have my class output path configured to WEB-INF/classes. This is useful to be able to save a source file and have the updated class be immediately available without restarting Tomcat. As of yesterday, "suddenly" with every save on any file that is outputted to the classes, results in all the class-files in the WEB-INF/classes being deleted. I haven't a clue why. This means that for every save, I have to re compile the entire project, a major time killer.
Does anyone know how to turn this off? I'm not aware of changing any settings that might have resulted in this annoying behaviour.
I could be wrong. But this sounds like an Eclipse issue more than a TOMCAT issue. I would check your project settings under properties in the Eclipse IDE and just to be on the safe side, that it might be an issue with TOMCAT, check the permissions on the $CATALINA_HOME/webapps directory.
