Tomcat issue - newbie

Hi,
I m new to using tomcat. i have configured tomcat3 and it displays my web page when i give the ip address as 127.0.0.1. But when i give the system address (192.17....) it cant find the page. m i missing something?

Why are you starting out with such an old version?
It's up to version 5.5 now and a lot has changed since version 3.

You're going to have a hard time finding help with it.
Most everyone is on version 4 now. Most books are for versions 4 or 5.


Also, there is a Tomcat forum on this site where you will probably get better help than here.

Agreed to Ben.
If Tomcat3 is your requirement then you can use it, Otherwise stick to new versions.

Explain your problem properly. Give the Error message that you got.

If you are using windows, search for the file "hosts".
Add an entry of your IP address in the hosts file and then restart and try again.
Your new entry should be in the format

191.162.11.21 localhost
