swhy do I still see "jsessionid=.." when cookies is ON

Using a struts example, I make sure cookie is on and "always accept session cookies". Then I assume the URL should not include "jseessionid" but it still. why ? Does Tomcat always use URLrewriting method to handle session tracking ?

the problem went away. I don't see jsessionid=.. any more after I turned on the cookie.

URLrewriting is never done automatically by Tomcat - the programmer has to specifically provide for it.
