Browser cann't find Tomcat server

Hi All,

I recently installed Tomcat5.0.28 on XP at home. I am using JDK 1.5. I have completed all the necessary requiments. I am sure about it.... I start tomcat from command prompt using "startup.bat" and the server starts properly..

The problem is when i say "http://localhost:8080" on browser (IE), it says "cann't find the server". I checked it with Netscape also, without any luck.... Do I need to do any other setting ??

Can anybody tell me what cud be the problem. I have set CATALINA_HOME, JAVA_HOME properly.... I have been working on tomcat4.x previously on .NT/2K without any problem.... Any suggestions/solutions would be greatly appreciated...

If you are sure that Tomcat is really running (check the Task Manager), the likely cause is that your hosts file does not define "localhost" - try http://127.0.0.1:8080/
If that works, look for hosts under WINDOWS/system32/drivers/etc
You want a line that looks like:
