Hi,

I have dowloaded Tomcat 5.5.9 from Apache site. When I try to start the server it gives me following eror.

SEVERE: StandardServer.await: create[8005]:
java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketBind(Native Method)
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.bind(PlainSocketImpl.java:331)
at java.net.ServerSocket.bind(ServerSocket.java:318)
at java.net.ServerSocket.<init>(ServerSocket.java:185)
at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardServer.await(StandardServer.java:346
----- More stacktrace
----

I changed the port in conf/server.xml to 80 and 8000 but still it is not geting started. What can be the reason behid this and what is the solution?

Thanks
Nitin

It looks like the shutdown port (8005) is the problem.
If you're running more than one instance of Tomcat, you will need to change that one as well. It's in your server.xml file.
