We have had the tomcat process take as long as 10 minutes to completely recycle, which is too long. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on why this process would be taking so long? THanks for any help!

I seriously doubt that it's a Tomcat issue. Have you run a profiler to pinpoint the bottleneck?

What do you mean recycle; restarting the server, reloading an app?
I've never seen Tomcat take that long to do any of these.

What sort of connections to external resources does your instance of Tomcat build? Maybe its a delay is closing/discarding/finalizing things like database connections.
