Increasing JVM memory in TOMCAT 5.0

Hi -

In our project, we increased the JVM memory in cogifuration panel of TOMCAT 5.0 using -server -Xmx 512m option.

IN our web application when we tried to see the allocated JVM memory
it was not showing the allocation 512m.

Is the TOMCAT not recognizing the set -Xmx option in configuration
or can we set anywhere else in the configuration files ?

There are two settings commonly used for specifying the heap size.
Xmx and Xms. The former (which is what you set) specifies the max heap size.
The latter specifies the initial heap size.
Try setting them both to the same thing and checking with the Tomcat manager app (click the Server Settings link)
