Deploying web apps

I'm a little confused about web apps with Tomcat. My question is, why do I have to leave the war file in the webapps directly after the app is deployed? A folder is there, so why leave the war file in there? It seems that if I take the war file out, it takes the app folder out too.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
