Hi Reyaz,
It is very good Question, you have to know about how to use multiple instances of web server. Means you should go through Tomcat dcumentation and read about clustering of tomcat. Clustering of Tomcat means provide multiple instances of web server .And it is also known as High avalability.
i am providing you some links go through this you will know how to use it

the multiple users acessing the web application

It seems to me that you are asking a question that is much simpler than the one Prashant answered.
The Tomcat servlet container, like all web servers, provides for running each request in its own Thread. You should probably go read a basic servlet tutorial such as this one.

Ummm, yes. Clustering is most certainly not necessary to support multiple users of a web app.

hye...

when more than millions of users try to acess the same web page..how the servlet instance would be produced instantly (million copies) . according to the instance concept the users may experience difference in time take n to acess some thing in the website or there is a chance of web server getting overloaded..??

how these things could be possible without clustering. does tomcat 5.5.9 supports clustering?

It appears that you have not taken our advice to go read a tutorial.

A single instance of a servlet object can handle multiple simultaneous requests because the servlet container assigns each request to its own thread. This architecture requires a change of programmer viewpoint from that used in desktop single-user applications.

For information on the capabilities of Tomcat, go to the tomcat site.
