Problem installing Tomcat 5.5 on Windows XP

I downloaded the Windows Service installer (exe) and ran that. It
apeared to install fine but when I point my browser to: http:\
\localhost:8080 is get this error: "The device does not recognize the
command."

I can start and stop the server by using the Tomcat Monitor but no
matter how many times I stop and start it I get the same message.

I also tried turning off the Windows firewall but that didn't help either.

Any ideas would be great.
Thanks

http:\\localhost:8080

Interesting, when I put that URL in Firefox it automatically corrects the typo to create
http://localhost:8080

Perhaps your hosts file does not define localhost? Try 127.0.0.1:8080
