What is tomcat5w.exe?

I am new to java and web.

Can someone give me information about tomcat5w.exe
Does it come with all the Tomcat versions?
And what is the exact purpose of it?

I can tell you it comes with tomcat 5.5.
You can use it to start and stop tomcat. Also it allows you to configure the logs, startup and shutdown parameters.

That file is the Tomcat executable for Windows.
No, it doesn't ship with all versions.
I don't have it in the tar.gz version.
