SSL request on tomcat from apache

I have one application which is running on SSL (all pages). Now I want to integrate tomcat with Apache. I tried to use mod_proxy and mod_jk2 connectors but I could not get through. Each time when SSL page gets served, the URL is redirected to port 8443, instead of 443.

My test page works perfect if its plain http request (i.e. served on port 80 although its running on 8080 on tomcat).

Anybody have any suggestions/pointers...
