I am new to JSP and this forum too. I am done with SCJP and heading towards JSP Servelets. Never wrote a little program in JSP or Servelets, I would like to know what would i need to run JSP program. I have downloaded NEtBeans IDE 5.5.1. do i need to do any settings for Server ? please can anybody tell me how would i start working on that . or do i need any other tool to run JSP.
- I really appreciate your help and suggestions. - thank you
If you already have Java then all you need is a servlet container that has support for JSP. Apache Tomcat is one of the most popular. It's open source so it costs nothing to download and use.
Personally, I don't recommend using an IDE until you're comfortable setting your container and have written, compiled, and deployed a few web applications without one. Production environments won't be wrapped with an IDE and it's important that you understand how to configure and debug an application without relying on one.
