Tomcat installation and how to set path

I have installed tomcat in my laptop and the icon is being displayed on the tray,but the thing is when running the code i am getting error. So,kindly suggest steps to be followed while working on jsp and servlets with tomcat.

I'm assuming that you've installed Tomcat on a Windows box using the '.exe' installer (there wouldn't be a systray icon otherwise). When installing this way, there is no need to set the PATH or any other environment variables. Can you tell us more about the error you're seeing? When does it happen? Where are you seeing it (in the browser or in the tomcat logs)?
