The simplest way is to install Tomcat with the ".exe" version of the installer.

When installed and run as either a Windows Service or from the Windows start menu, the output goes to a log file under tomcat/logs (like catalina.out).

but I want to start it by using command prompt .
By using the command "startup"

One way to write the log in log folder is
Within startup.bat you'll notice the following line:

call "%EXECUTABLE%" start %CMD_LINE_ARGS%

Change this line to

call "%EXECUTABLE%" run %CMD_LINE_ARGS% >>
"%CATALINA_HOME%"/logs/Startup_err.log 2>&1

but due to this I am able to shut down the tomact server by using command "shutdown"

Please help me out

Did you mean that you're NOT able to stop Tomcat with the shutdown command?
If so, why not?
What's happening when you try?

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
