Tomcat 6 : Recommendation

Hi Authors,

I am not the experience user of Tomcat,
still I am using Tomcat 5.5.23 version for my spring application, I would like to know that.. what are the major advantages over Tomcat 5.5 and one more thing if I replace my Tomcat 5.5.23 with Tomcat 6 then what are the areas, where does it really effect in my application.
