tomcat down

My tomcat (Tomcat 4.1) is down when active sessions reaches 600. Any configuration to extend session, or something like tomcat session pooling?

There is no hard limit on the number of sessions that I am aware of.
When you say 'down' what do you mean?

If Tomcat crashed, there should be something in the logs saying why.
I would start there.
