Thank you Ulf Dittmer for your Responce........

I read the manual ,but i need some info about log4j.properties file......where it should be it placed in the hierarchy and info about the field that should be used in it.........

As the manual explains, the file goes into the WEB-INF/classes directory of the web app doing the logging. It also has an example file showing how to log both to the console and to a file.
