Hi to all
I downloaded windows version (.exe) Tomcat from internet.I have installed it in c drive. It is working properly.I use it in this manner:
1.First i open the folder in c:/Tomcat..../webapp
2.then i paste my all files in it according to directory structure.
3.then i start internet explorer and type the url.
4.It works fine.
But If i want to create new application, then i again do all steps 1-4 without shutdown or startup.bat file.
Some one told me that you have to start tomcat by double click on startup.bat before typing url and shutdown.bat after complete execution of your app.But i dont do this because i could find the startup.bat and shutdown.bat file in /bin directory. There are some files but not .bat extension file.
Please anybody suggest me the steps which i am using is appropriate or not.

One thing more ,suppose i want to exit tomcat then what should i do? Now i am directly closing the window by click on cross on right corner of the window. Is it appropriate.

The Windows exe version's installer gives you the option to install as a Windows service and/or add start menu items for starting and stopping Tomcat.

If you want to start and stop it from the batch files, download the .zip version.
