Hello, I installed tomcat 6.0.16 on vista with the executable. When windows start tomcat will try and start the service, but it errors out. The only way I can start the service is by opening the configure tomcat, and right clicking and selecting run as administrator. Then I am able to stop and start the service. Is there any way I can start tomcat without having to do the run as administrator?

Hi Andy,

You might try enabling the User Account control off on your system.

You can find it here

Control Panel---------> User Accounts ------> Turn User account on or off

I think this should help, otherwise check the system event logs on your machine and paste it here so that we can have a look.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Sumit
