Self-signed certificate in tomcat

Hi,

Can anyone pls help with this. I need to accept a self signed certificate in tomcat 5.5.2 and i am getting this error.
keytool error: java.io.IOException: Invalid keystore format

Can someone pls list the steps to perform this action on unix.
