Tomcat webapp path

Greetings everyone. I am a newbie to Tomcat server but my work involves a lot of work with Apache/Tomcat at the backend.

I would like to know if it is possible for tweak Tomcat to look for webapp for deployment in elsewhere other than $TOMCAT_ROOT/webapps/app_name/... ? If so, how can it be configured?

Yes, that's possible. Look for the docBase attribute of the Context configuration.
