hi i have unzipped apache-tomcat-5.5.26-deployer.zip . and i got the folders

structure. Inside the bin folder it contains startup.bat , i started the server and requested the url as http://localhost:8080/ it gives the page.

my doubt is how to create the new ROOT folder and deploy it in server.
give me the steps to follow.

you place your "war file" or "exploded folder" under the webapp folder and just restart the server.in Tomact name of the WAR become web application name

Hope This Helps

i created the folder as you said in webapps, inside it WEB-INF and lib folder. Inside web-inf contains classes folder also.

my url is as follows
[URL=http://localhost:8080/website/first.jsp [/url] It is giving the page without creating the web.xml in WEB-INF folder. where the web.xml will be created.
