Hi Experts,
I'm facing problem with the starting of tomcat server,
Tomcat server is integrated with Eclipse 3.4,
when I'm trying to start the Tomcat Server i get the below message

"Tomcat V5.5 cannot run on PORT 8009 as some other process is already running on that port, change the port number"

Can anyone tell me how to make my tomcat server run fine.?
where and how do i change the port number of tomcat server.?

You probably don't need to change anything in the Tomcat setup. But you need to determine what's already running on your machine on that port - in all likelihood another Tomcat instance. Make sure you only run one instance at a time, or you'll confuse yourself.

If you are on windows, type netstat -a at the command prompt
on Linux netstat and nmap will do.

Hope this helps

Hi,
i did netstat -a and found the below fact

TCP lenovosomething 8009 .......... LISTENING

The above fact/line in quote indicates that someother process is listening to 8009 port and is unavialable for tomcat server to run.

Can anyone suggest me how should i configure my tomcat server so that it runs fine and perfectly on 8009 port without changing port settings.??
Can i kill the process lenovosomething which is already running on 8009 port so that my tomcat server runs fine @ 8009 port ,if so how should i proceeed??

Suggestions /Hints are appreciated.

Please Help...

Need Help Urgently on this...

-if you edit your tomcat_home/conf/server.xml, find the value 8009 and change it to 8010. Better yet, if you're not using AJP connections, comment the entry for the AJP connector.
