Clustering SSL requestes in JBoss+Jetty (3.2.1)

Dear List,
I have the following problem. I have a 2 nodes JBoss cluster with distributed sessions using Apache/mod_jk as load-balancer. It is working fine, the problems is that I can not configure to have the SSL requests clustered.
As far as read the AJP13 is not offering SSL connection support, so mod_jk can not be used.
Is it possible to install the SSL certificate on Apache and use Apache mod_rewrite to balance the requests, or is it any better solution for this?
Thank you,
