General CMP under JBOSS

I've a JBOSS newbie and had a couple of quick questions on the JBOSS CMP aspects:

Does JBOSS 3.0 support CMP 1.1? (is that through jaws.xml?)

On the other hand for CMP 2.0, can we applications under CMP 2.0 in JBOSS even if the applicatios do not have any EJB Transactions?

Also, is it a good idea to use an EJB Cache to serve multiple servlets in a VM? Does this mean that the data is shared so there is no need for connecting to the database multiple times? or is the data fetched on each call.
