i am working through the book and am having problems with the quote app.

i've tried both typing in the code myself and using the download and both are having problems. when using the download from the book site i get the following error:

javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:810)
org.jboss.web.tomcat.filters.ReplyHeaderFilter.doFilter(ReplyHeaderFilter.java:81)

can anybody help? it appears to be an issue with the taglib prefix uri.

thanks...
erik

Could you be more specific about what lab you are on? If we've made a mistake packaging something for the book, we'd like to fix it quickly so others won't have problems.

This is an issue with the sources for the book. We'll update those on the O'Reilly site. In the mean time, what you need to do is go here:

http://jakarta.apache.org/site/downloads/downloads_taglibs-standard.cgi

and download the 1.1 Standard Taglib.

Open up the zip that you get and copy jstl.jar and standard.jar into the /src/lib dir of the quote example your doing. Re-run ant and it'll deploy the app and those jars and then refresh your web page and the example will run.

that was the problem. i needed the jstl.jar and standard.jar. i think they were accidently left out of the download on the book site.

it was the quotes app, by the way.

thanks...
