I am starting a new J2EE project . for the application server I will use JBoss as its free . Now can you tell me whats the difference ( in featurewise ) with paid Application server like websphere/weblogic and free appserver like JBoss ??

All the application servers provide the same basic set of features. JBoss provides it for free whereas for others you will have to pay for a license. In addition to this, each application server might have their own proprietary features.
